"The American
Jewish Revolution:
Making the Case
for a Golden Age"

Rabbi Yoffie will discuss the last century of Jewish life in America,

with emphasis on the evolving role of the American synagogue and

the demographically complicated nature of the American Jewish

community. He will make the case for a Golden Age of American

Jewish life, beginning in 1980, and will review the special challenges

to Jewish continuity that have arisen in the last decade.

Rabbi Eric Yoffie

Rabbi Yoffie is a writer, lecturer, and
President Emeritus of the Union for
Reform Judaism (URJ). He served as
President of the URJ from 1996 to 2012,
launching major synagogue initiatives on
worship, Shabbat observance, and Jewish
camping and youth. He now lectures at
universities and synagogues on American
Jewish life, Israel and the Middle East,
interfaith relations, and social justice.
