ALBERT WEISS, 88,
passed away in Irvine,
Calif., on April 4, 2015,
of lymphoma.
Born Feb. 22, 1927,
in Komoro, Hungary,
he came to the United
States with his parents
Weiss
and
siblings in 1937 at
c. 1945
the age of 10 and grew
up in Gary, Ind.
Albert served in the Navy before attend-
ing college at Purdue University, where he
earned his degree in mechanical engineer-
ing. He and his family lived for many years
in the Detroit area, where he worked for
more than 60 years as an engineer and
entrepreneur, starting Weiss Construction
Company.
He and his wife, Joan, have lived in
California since 1987. He was a member
of several synagogues over the course of
his life but most recently enjoyed attend-
ing services with Rabbi Rick Steinberg at
Congregation Shir Ha-Ma'alot in Irvine.
Albert was a lover of wildlife, bird watch-

the welfare of all his close and dear extend-
ed family. Albert is fondly remembered by
many who knew him over the wonderful
years of his life.
Mr. Weiss is survived by his wife, Joan;
his sister, Shirley Medwell; their children,
Elizabeth, Karen and husband, Bob, and
Kim; his children from his first marriage
to Edith Weiss, Linda and husband, Fred,
Daniel and wife, Michelle, and Robert;
grandchildren, Danielle and husband Matt,
David, Brett and husband, Morgan, Eric,
Drew and wife, Mandy, Kyle, Carly, Jacob,
Melissa and Michael; a great-granddaugh-
ter, Isabella.
He was preceded in death by his par-
ents, Jacob and Margaret Weiss; his sister,
Marishka; brothers, Eugene and Mickey
Weiss.
Services were held at Congregation Shir
Ha-Ma'alot in Irvine, Calif. Interment was at
Pacific View Memorial Park. Arrangements
by Malinow & Silverman. Contributions are
welcome at Congregation Shir Ha-Ma'alot,
3652 Michelson Drive, Irvine, CA 92612.
