Whimsical Presentation
Party planner Leslie Jacobs says it's all about the food.
"A big food trend is that couples are looking to
personalize food choices, especially appetizers and
desserts," Jacobs says. "They want different and
unique."
Her suggestion
is to take the
"traditional" and put
a spin on it — make
it whimsical and
unexpected.

Wake Up Your Space
With Lighting
Wedding and event planner Andrea
Solomon is excited about the newest
trend in event lighting. "Be it soft and
elegant or bright and modern, 2015
offers the best choices for transforming
your room into wow!" she says.
From traditional Edison light bulbs to
contemporary light-up furniture, anything
and everywhere can be accented with
light, Solomon says.
"Most brides and grooms choose
white, amber, pink, blue or purple lights,"
she says. "In the past, we lit walls, dance
floors, ceilings, and hung chandeliers.
Now you can light up the outdoors, single
or multiple trees, pathways and signs.
"Dance floors now come in all sizes
and shapes that can be lit with one color,
change colors with music or they can
change patterns and colors when you
step on them," she adds.
Furniture, such as chairs, tables, bars
and sweet tables can also be lit. Still
popular are candles, spot lighting and
walls draped with uplighting, she says,
"but the use of net lighting, LED lighting,
rope lighting, battery-operated candles
and color lighting brings dimension and
shadows to a room, creating a whole
other look. I even sell invitations and
table numbers that light up and change
colors!"

into a club scene," says Lyle Braus of West Bloomfield-based Fabulous

"Milk and cookies are a favorite, but put a twist on
it by filling a shot glass with chocolate or vanilla milk
shakes — hummers are great, too — a mini chocolate
chip cookie sits on the rim, add a mini straw, and you
have the 'twist, — she says. "Mini root beer floats are
fun to pass to guests during the evening as are mini
ice cream cones — the unexpected!"

"Many times we make a seating area near the dance floor so those
who don't dance can still engage with the ones who do," Braus says.
"The addition of spandex linens and chair covers top off the room."
Typically, clients choose white or black furniture, he adds. "They're
trying to create a social atmosphere, not the stodgy look of a country
club.
You don't need to break the bank when transforming a room. "We
work with all budgets and turn the client's vision into a reality," Braus
says.

Netted Bodice & Sheer Overlays On Gowns
As with all things in fashion, there is always a trend, and the bridal world is no different, say
the fashion mavens at Bridal Couture of Birmingham. One of the newest standout trends is
having a netted bodice or sheer overlay on the skirt's gown. The netted bodice, often in an ivory
or skin tone, allows for a build-up on the gown without all the weight, as well as the modest
suggestion of skin.
This feature is perfect for the bride who wants an artistic dress that shows some skin but in a
feminine, elegant and modest way, they say.
The other sheer lace placement, which is found on the skirt's gown, functions as an overlay.
Even though the lace is sheer, this does not mean the bride is being too revealing, despite the
location. The designers have kept discretion in mind and have appropriately lined the gown to
the point where the lace skirt can truly begin to show itself, allowing the bride the elegance and
mobility all in one.
The inclusion of this beautiful feature on the gown allows the bride to select from a playful
new look that still remains modest and feminine. "The bride still remains the centerpiece while
wearing her standout and fashionable wedding dress," they say.
