The Sacks very much appreciate the
link they have in working for busi-
nesses with long family histories.
"It is a great feeling to be part of
such a wonderful connection; Kevin
said. "Hulet Body got its start in
1919, compared to Sea Fare's 1959;
however, both have stood the test of
time and have also chosen to stay
within Detroit.
"Growing up in a family business
has given both Abbie and myself
perspective on responsibility and
accountability that we may not
necessarily have if not for Hulet and
Sea Fare. It takes diligence, deter-
mination and perseverance to keep
a small family business going for
several generations.
"Lots of people out there assume
because we are involved in a fam-
ily business that we just sit around
counting cash all day. Although that
it is the dream for many, it is reality
for none. In order to earn the com-
fortable life that we enjoy in Metro
Detroit, we put in the time it takes to
build and maintain the business, and
we don't cut corners.
"Hulet Body provides the best
service out there you can possibly
find in the trucking industry, while
at Sea Fare we were literally judged
the best-tasting pickled herring in
the world by the American Culinary
Institute. We all have our days, but
when push comes to shove we are
very proud and grateful to be a part
of our family businesses"
The two also take pride living and
working where they do.
"It is definitely a choice Kevin
said. "We both could have lived
numerous places outside of Metro
Detroit and outside of Michigan. We
both established a goal of becom-
ing a beneficial part of our fam-
ily's businesses and of growing the
business. Having that purpose is
extremely important for me. As far
as living in Detroit, I really couldn't
see myself living anywhere else:'
Abbie and Kevin celebrated the
start of their marriage surrounded
by guests whose involvement and
impact on their lives are intertwined.
"We were both so lucky to be
surrounded by our family, friends,
co-workers, suppliers and custom-
ers; Abbie said. "In our industry, I
find that the customer, supplier and
colleague relationships that are built
turn into more than just a business
relationship because it's such a small
circle. These people become your
friends. It meant so much to walk
into a room on the happiest day
of my life surrounded by so many
people who cared for us:'

Stillman Family
Honors Emily By
Offering Vaccine

W

hat do you do with
your sadness and grief
when faced with the
loss of your child?
You stand up and make a dif-
ference so that others won't feel
the same pain. That is what Alicia
and Michael Stillman of West
Bloomfield have done for the past
two years since losing their daugh-
ter, Emily, from meningococcal B
(MenB) at age 19 while she was a
student at Kalamazoo College.
They cre-
ated the Emily
Stillman
Foundation to
preserve the
memory of Emily
Nicole Stillman
and to assist in
raising funds for
Emily Stillamn
both meningo-
coccal disease
and organ donation. Early last
October, the foundation was grant-
ed 501c (3) status. One hundred
percent of proceeds go directly
toward its mission.
"Our goal is to create a world
where there is no 'wait list' for
organ donation, and where menin-
gitis is eradicated; Alicia Stillman
said.
With that goal in mind, the
Stillman family was already taking
busloads of people across the bor-
der into Windsor to be vaccinated.
Prior to last fall, the FDA had not
approved the vaccine in the U.S.
On Saturday, March 28, the
Emily Stillman Foundation will be
sponsoring a clinic to administer
the Bexsero MenB vaccines begin-
ning at 10 a.m. at 30057 Orchard
Lake Road in Farmington Hills.
This coverage requires two doses at
least 30 days apart. A physician and
nurses will administer the vaccine.
It is important to understand this
vaccine does not replace the MV4
vaccine that covers the strains A, C,
Y and W This additional vaccine
protects from the B strain only.
Suggested donation for the two
dosages is $270 ($135 per dosage);
assistance is available upon request.
No one will be denied the opportu-
nity to get vaccinated, and all situa-
tions will be handled confidentially
and respectfully. Advance registra-
tion is required.
