Apply For Great Jewish
Book Summer Program
For the past three summers, Josh
Lambert has spent a week teaching
great works of contemporary Jewish
literature to high school students.
And the stories studied at the
Great Jewish Books Summer
Program, a tuition-free residen-
tial program at the Yiddish Book
Center in Amherst, Mass., have
particular resonance for the par-
ticipants, leading them to consider
important questions about what it
means to be Jewish, said Lambert,
the Center's academic director.
The Great Jewish Books Summer
Program introduces students to a
wide range of modern Jewish nov-
elists, poets and short-story writers,
ranging from Franz Kafka to Philip
Roth, Sholem Aleichem to Grace
Paley, in classes taught by college
professors.
The program is open to rising
high school juniors and seniors. All
students accepted receive full schol-
arships covering tuition, room and
board, books and special events.
This year's program will be Aug.
2-9. Applications are due April 1.
To apply, visit yiddishbookcenter.
