Sarah and Harold Gottlieb
Stephen Gottlieb
Cantorial Chair
Temple Israel in West Bloomfield has
received an endowment in excess of
$10 million from members Sarah and
Harold Gottlieb of Birmingham to estab-
lish the Stephen Gottlieb z"1 Cantorial
Chair. It was established in memory of
the Gottliebs' late son Stephen, an avid
music lover who died in 2006.
In addition to creating a cantorial
chair, the endowment will support and
enhance the music program at Temple
Israel and fund an annual concert called
the Stephen Gottlieb Tribute Concert.
This year's event will be on Sunday, July
19, at Temple Israel.
"Our gift and the creation of this
annual concert are in honor of our son
Stephen, who loved music and was pas-
sionate about making it accessible to
children and young adults," said Harold
Gottlieb. "It is our hope that this event
will attract both young and old, be a cat-
alyst for increased music education and
provide an enhanced commitment to
Judaism and Jewish music in Southeast
Michigan:'
The Gottliebs previously established
the Jewish Community Center's Stephen
Gottlieb Music Festival and Festival of Arts.

JARC's Link Up Offers Social
Network To Young Adults
JARC, an organization serving people
with disabilities, is pleased to announce
Link Up, a new social group following in
the footsteps of the organization's former
program called Club Scene.
Link Up is a social network for teens
and young adults with disabilities to
meet people, make friends, have fun and
try new things in the community. There
is something for everyone, including
going to the movies, sporting events,
museums, yoga, cooking classes, com-
munity service volunteering, concerts,
dining out, game nights and more.
Link Up is connecting individu-
als through social media with its own
Facebook page (JARCLinkUp).
A new component of the Link Up
program is its Dining Out series that
connects individuals served by JARC and
the greater young adult community. The
group meets once a month at a different
restaurant in the community.
"Link Up's new young adult connec-
tion seeks to connect the thriving com-
munity of young adults in Jewish Metro
Detroit with JARC folks in a way that
is genuine and fosters real friendship,"
said Danielle DePriest, one of JARC's
Young Adult Committee members. "It's
important to provide JARC folks with an
opportunity to socialize, but it is even
more important to link them up with the
greater Jewish young adult community
in Detroit:'
For details on Link Up or to RSVP for
a future activity, contact Kendall Bear at
(248) 488-7546 or find on Facebook at
