Love Of Family

ybil H. Markowitz died unex-
pectedly on Feb. 11, 2015, just
12 days shy of her 57th wedding
anniversary.
At age 14, a young girl tapped the
shoulder of a 15-year-old boy at the
Avalon Theater in Detroit to tell him
about her dad's brand new 1952 Green
Cadillac Sedan DeVille. This was the
beginning of generations of family that
Sybil and Mel Markowitz would build
together.
The love and kindness she spread
throughout her lifetime will live on for-
ever within her family: her loving hus-
band, Mel; her children, Andrew (Linda),
Mindy, Norm (Kim) and Richard; her
grandchildren, Michelle, Tony, Amanda
(Andrew), Ryan, Rachel, Jessica, Nicole,
Sarah, Alex and Mackenzie.

Bloomfield, died Feb. 16, 2015.

ROBERTA (COHEN)
COOPER, 67, of
Phoenix, Ariz., former-
ly of West Bloomfield,
died Feb. 21, 2015,
from cancer.
Roberta taught high
school, business school
and college English
from 1970-2004.
Retired from teaching, as well as
from the temperamental climes indig-
enous to brutal Midwestern winters,
she and her eternal best friend and soul
mate husband of 44 years, David Cooper,
headed for cacti country, Phoenix, Ariz.,
in 2004. There they warmly found the
newly built hamish dwelling of their
shared dreams. Although the couple fell
short on years spent there, the quality of

precious dawns and evenings took root
and flowered into blooms of memories
sweet and beautiful.
Pre-deceasing Roberta were her par-
ents, William Cohen and Elsie Jaffe;
stepfather, Max Jaffe; precious son, Marc
William Cooper; grandparents, Ethel
and James Schossberger; great-aunts
and uncles, Max and Helen Glass, Vera
and Joseph Weinfeld, Samuel Lovett and
Helen Weinfeld, Louis Cohen, Morrey
Reznik, Carl Maness.
Survivors are her beloved husband,
David; daughter, Jodi Faith Cooper;
brother and sister-in-law, Donald and
Anne (Barkhouse) Cohen; lovable niece
and nephews, Suzanne and Ben Skigen,
and Jonathan Cohen; truly great-niece
and nephew, Claire and Leo Skigen;
aunts, Shirley Cohen Modiano and
Honeylou Reznik; cousins, Roslynn
and Bernard Fantich, Ronald and Beth
Cohen, Marilyn Shepherd, Alan Maness;
and numerous extended family members
and extraordinary Motown friends.
A celebration of her life will be held

ALVIN J. DUNN, 93 of West Bloomfield,
died Feb. 22, 2015.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Gloria Dunn; daughter and son-in-
law, Arlene and Alan Gottlieb of West
Bloomfield; sons, David Dunn of
Farmington Hills, Jeffrey Dunn; grand-

behind her sisters, Winnie (the late Joe)
Snyder, and Margo (Michael) Goldman.
She was preceded in death by her par-
ents, Norman and Ruby Schreiber, and
Louis and Ada Markowitz.
The love story of Sybil and Mel blos-
somed into a beautiful tale that her
family will continue to write in her lov-
ing memory. The family that Mel and
Sybil built together will forever cherish
her memory and miss her warmth and
kindness. The beauty and uncondi-
tional love she instilled within the fam-
ily will remain a constant reminder of
this incredible woman. The door at the
Markowitz household will always be
open on Sunday nights, where her beau-
tiful traditions will forever live on.
Interment was at Beth Moses (Beth
