Exodus Of European Jews
Would Not Be Good For Israel

I am writing in response to Prime Minister
Netanyahu's recent calls after the Paris and
Copenhagen massacres for European Jews to
migrate from Europe to Israel en masse. This
mass migration of European Jews would
have a big unmentioned negative impact.
Over the last 15 years, Israel has become
more and more isolated from many other
nations. Israel has fewer and fewer friends. A
Jewish mass migration from Europe would
isolate Israel still more and decrease the
number of its friends even more.
If the Jews leave, the Muslims will stay.
They will become an unchallenged, grow-
ing voter bloc. So, more and more political
parties and politicians will compete for their
votes. These political parties and politicians
will respond by declaring and implementing
a new intent to align their nations' foreign
policies more with the Arab nations and less
with Israel.
As a result, in a crisis, Israel will no lon-
ger be able to count on European support.
Rather, European support will go to Arab
nations, including those hostile to Israel.
For these reasons, Prime Minister
Netanyahu's position is wrong. It threatens
Israel's security. Accordingly, for Israel's
security, European Jews must stay in Europe
and press their governments to remain or
become Israel's friends.

Volunteers Run
Our Community

I'm the lady in blue in the "iVolunteer"
story (Feb. 12, page 16).
iVolunteer is a sensational new resource.
I do Meals on Wheels, Call for Action and
tutor reading and writing at Longacre
School.
Can we add a medical one? I am
past president of Crohn's and Colitis
Foundation of Michigan. Our community
runs on volunteers!

nuclear-armed warhead for Israel. This is in
addition to financing Hezbollah and spon-
soring terror attacks against Jews worldwide.
Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister
Netanyahu and Naftali Bennett, are hard at
work trying to help Americans understand
the existential threat Iranian nukes will pres-
ent to Israel.
So why aren't local Jewish leaders helping
to spread the word, insisting that the U.S.
government stand in support of its one reli-
able Middle East ally? Where are the op-eds
in our local newspapers?
Are any local Jewish leaders encouraging
the Jewish community to demand that their
congressional representatives reject politi-
cal games and attend Netanyahu's speech to
Congress? Where is the call for the Jewish
community to come together and make our
voices heard?
We know from our history that strength,
not cowering in silence, is the key to facing
and defeating our enemies. And we know
that real leaders aren't afraid to speak up.

veryone knows about daylight
savings time in Michigan. In
November, we set our clocks
back one hour, and in March, we set the
clock forward one hour.
But did you know that daylight sav-
ings time in Israel was extended until
April?
That's right. In 1984, the cabinet in
Jerusalem voted to extend daylight sav-
ings time on a permanent basis. As an
economic measure, the extension of
daylight savings time was expected to
yield an energy savings of $3.5 million
for Israel. The extension was originally
an experiment to see if there would be
energy savings by extending daylight
savings time by an additional four
weeks.
However, there were protests and
opposition to the idea by the Orthodox
Jewish community because of morning
