frontlines What A Day For A Sono! H ave you ever had just "one of those days"? If so, one of the last things you were concerned with was breaking into song about it. Aha! See, that is what separates us from the more musically inclined who have been inspired by different days of the week to compose tunes about them. Some interesting discoveries were found on an Internet site called "A Phil Brodie Band Info Page;" and for sharing his findings, I thank Phil. According to recent postings, the most popular day to have been included in a song title was Sunday with 119 titles. Then came Saturday with 103, Monday with 72, Friday with 54, Tuesday with 48, Wednesday with 36 and Thursday with 33. I suppose that there is more leisure time on the weekends for inspiration Sy Manel and for things to hap- Editoria pen, making Saturday Assistan and Sunday apparent It was really by chance that Sandy Benson came to learn about (Johnny Cash). Thursday gave inspiration through- out the day as witnessed by "Thursday Morning" (Giles Giles & Fripp), "Thursday Afternoon" (Brian Eno) and "Thursday Night" (Johnny Otis). Friday seems to be the entree to a sad weekend as seen in "Black Friday" (Steely Dan) and "Friday Let Me Down" (Hall & Oates). Saturday really let the blues in as at least seven groups produced songs titled "Saturday Night." One or two entries I found confusing. For example, "On Sunday" by a group called Til Tuesday and "Springtime on Sunday" by a group called Wednesday. Well, just remember that "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever" and you may wish to sing about it. Go right ahead. ❑ choices. What were some of the entries? Well, I knew you would ask, so I made some notes. Sunday seemed a rather unhappy day based on "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" (U2), "Gloomy Sunday" (Billie Holiday) and "Another Park, Another Sunday" (Doobie Bros.). Monday had its ups and downs as witnessed by "Fell in Love on Monday" (Fats Domino) and "Rainy Days and Mondays" (Carpenters). Tuesday had appeal in "Ruby Tuesday" (Rolling Stones) and "Love You Til Tuesday" (David Bowie). Wednesday ("Hump Day") gave birth to "Waiting for Wednesday" (Lisa Loeb) and "Wednesday Car" MICONTENTS theJEWISHNEWS corn Feb. 26-March 4, 2015 I 7-13 Adar 5775 I Vol. CXLVII, No. 4 Around Town ..16, 26, 27 Arts & Life 55 Business 44 Calendar 28 Editor's Picks 58 Health & Wellness ... 50 Israel 6, 17, 18, 24, 30, 42, 43, 50, 78 jewish®edu 30 Jews in Digital Age .. 22 Letters 5 Lifecycles 62 Love Connection .... 65 Marketplace 65 Metro NextGen Obituaries Points of View Red Thread Sports Staff Box Synagogue List Torah Portion World 8 48 71 42 31 54 6 46 47 78 Columnists Danny Raskin Robert Sklar 60 42 Our JN Mission The Jewish News aspires to communicate news and opinion that's useful, engaging, enjoyable and unique. Sandy accompa- nied her daughter to a college fair at the Jewish Community Center where, in among the displays of educational opportunities, HFL had a table set up to showcase its college loan program. Sandy stopped to discuss education funding and in the process she also learned about HFL's wide range of business and personal loans. As the owner of American Gourmet Foods in West Bloomfield, Sandy was intrigued. "I needed to upgrade my Point of Sale system, and was looking into something appropriate for my small business," Sandy said. "I hesitated to take that money out of my working capital. It was a necessary investment, but it was a large commitment all at once. After I met the HFL staff at that event, I did my research, then called the office to discuss my options. "It was so easy," Sandy said. "When you go for a standard loan, it's intimidating. You feel like you're under a microscope, the paperwork is complicated and you feel judged. At HFL, everyone was personable and it felt like they were on my team. The paperwork was straightforward and clear, the repayment terms were exactly what I needed, and I can't say enough about them. Use them. Support them. They're wonderful." Become an HFL Donor. 'slick. Call. Give Now. www.hfldetroit.org 248.723.8184 Health. A fresh start. A good education. The next great business idea.
