onning their brightest, most
festive aprons, a multi-gen-
erational group got into the
swing of pre-Purim baking at the Feb.
22 Hamentashen Bakefest at the Chabad
Jewish Center of Commerce's recently
opened new facility
"Participants learned the techniques
and skills for making hamantashen," said
event organizer Estie Greenberg, who
runs the center with her husband, Rabbi
Schneor Greenberg.
With a slew of toppings, along with
fillings that included chocolate, jelly and
poppy seeds, the group easily created the
highlight of mishloach manot, gift par-
cels consisting of at least two food items
given to friends for Purim, which begins
this year on Wednesday, March 4.
"Each family got to mix the dough
and then roll, shape, fill and fold it:'
Greenberg said. "They took home a
batch of these delicious three-cornered
treats to bake and share with their family
and package some for a friend:'
