"It's important that people know that help
is available," said Lynn Breuer, Team Leader
at ElderCare Solutions. "Our team members
are experts on geriatric care. We can provide
support and advice to help the older adult
and their family."
According to Breuer, ElderCare Solutions
provides many services. The first is working
with families who know what needs to be
done, but aren't sure how to accomplish it.
"We consult with the family on the issues
they are facing, then gather all the infor-
mation and resources they need to take
that next step. They leave armed to make
informed choices going forward," she said.
The next service, a comprehensive analy-
sis, is for families who are unsure of what to
do or what their options are. The team from
ElderCare Solutions will come in and assess
physical limitations, as well as the cognitive
and emotional health of the older adult to
get a whole sense of the care needed. Then
ElderCare Solutions will create a care plan
and help the family implement it.
"We also provide crisis assistance and will
meet families at the hospital to act as the
older adult's advocate," Breuer said. "In addi-
tion, we can advocate for clients at doctor's
visits and other medical appointments at the
family's request!'
Although the services provided by Elder-
Care Solutions are not covered by health
insurance, they are surprisingly affordable.
Breuer said many caregivers feel over-
whelmed and struggle to find an advocate
that understands the larger picture of aging.
