Horwitz, publisher and executive editor
of the Detroit Jewish News, was appoint-

The Arts Alliance announced the estab-
lishment of the Arts Alliance Medals
for Arts, Science & Humanities and the
Arts Alliance 21st Century Awards and
named its first honorees. The awards
celebrate the people and institutions in
our community who, "through their
actions, leadership, philanthropy and
body of work, have made their mark on
the creative sector, set the standard for
excellence and serve as an inspiration
for others to exemplify:' The award for
philanthropic excellence, presented in
recognition of a phenomenal history of
civic leadership and philanthropy to the
arts, science and humanities, was given
to Ambassador Ronald N. and Mrs.
Eileen Weiser of Ann Arbor.

Former Detroiter
Jeremy Ross, now of
Chicago, received a
2014 Emmy Award
on Nov. 1, from the
Chicago/Midwest
Chapter of the
National Academy of
Ross
Television Arts and
Sciences. Ross, a news reporter for CBS
2-TV in Chicago, earned the honor for
news writing at WITI-TV, FOX 6 in
Milwaukee, in the category of
Outstanding Crafts Achievement Off-Air.
He is the son of Olivia and Dennis Ross
of West Bloomfield. Ross also is a past
winner of the Edward R. Murrow Award
and three additional Emmys.

Andrea Teitel, a cer-
tified registered nurse
anesthetist of West
Bloomfield, has been
elected as the 2015-16
president-elect of the
Michigan Association
of Nurse Anesthetists
Teitel
[MANA]. She will
serve a one-year term before assuming
the role of president of the 2,300-mem-
ber organization. Teitel is the assistant
director of the University of Detroit
Mercy Graduate Program of Nurse
Anesthesia. In addition to practicing as a
CRNA at Huron Valley Hospital in
Commerce Township and at St. Joseph
Mercy Hospital Oakland in Pontiac, she
is also president of Mobile Anesthesia
Partners, where she provides consulta-
tion for anesthesia services.
