New FedEd
Classes Are
Set To Begin

hrough Federation's FedEd,
adults have the opportunity
to study with leading rab-
bis, scholars and educators to explore
the Bible, Jewish history, literature,
art and ethics or learn Hebrew. Day
and evening classes are available.
Highlights of classes starting in
February include:
WEDNESDAY
MAY 6, 2015
This World and the World to Come
9:00 a.m-
4:00 p.m.
with Rabbi Joseph Krakoff. The
course will explore spiritual topics
rarely presented in Hebrew school,
including the body/soul connec-
tion, Jewish visions of the afterlife,
the coming of the Messiah and the
Messianic era, resurrection, reincar-
nation, immortality and the end of
days. Class will meet for four weeks
on Mondays from 7-8:15 p.m. at the
Federation Building. Classes begin on
Feb. 23.
Biblical Heroines and Social Justice:
Spring Edition with Rabbi Ariana
Silverman. As we approach Purim,
Passover and Shavuot, what can
Queen Esther, Miriam and Ruth
teach us about Judaism and social
justice? Using these women as
examples, explore the Jewish obliga-
tion to pursue justice and how to do
so in our time. Class will meet for
six weeks on Thursdays from 1-2:15
p.m. at Hadassah House in West
Bloomfield. The first class meets on
Feb. 19.
An Innovative Exploration of Purim
and Passover with Rabbi Aaron
Starr and Cantor David Propis of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek is a
creative look at the meanings, mys-
teries and celebrations of Purim
and Passover. Enhance your Jewish
library with digital readings, writings
and recordings to help make these
holidays more meaningful for your
family. Class will meet for five weeks
on Thursdays from 7-8:15 p.m. at the
Berman Center for Jewish Education
at Shaarey Zedek, Southfield. Classes
start on Feb. 19.
