Former Detroit Tigers farmhand
Ben Guez is now in the Milwaukee
Brewers system.
Guez, 27, who had spent his
entire seven-year professional
career in the Tigers organization,
signed a minor-league contract last
month with the Brewers.
A right-handed hitting outfielder
who can play every outfield posi-
tion, Guez was in Triple-A ball with
the Toledo Mud Hens the last five
seasons.
He hit a pro career-best 18 home
runs with Toledo in 2013 and 16
homers there last year.
Guez wasn't invited to the
Brewers' major league camp. He
was invited to the organization's
minor league minicamp.

HOUR

A native of Houston, Texas, who
lives there during the off-season,
Guez won a gold medal with the
Houston baseball team in the 2003
JCC Maccabi Games.
He played college baseball at
William & Mary in Virginia and
was a member of the Israel national
team that competed in the quali-
fication round for the 2013 World
Baseball Classic. Current Tigers
manager Brad Ausmus was the
Israel team's manager.
Guez's father Charles Guez, a pro-
fessor of business at the University
of Houston, is a docent at the
Holocaust Museum Houston.
