RICHARD ALFRED
SHEINWALD, 74, died
Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, in
Weaverville, N.C.
He was born in Boston
to Alfred and Sylvia
Sheinwald. He worked
for the Associated Press
Sheinwald
Detroit bureau for more
than 30 years.
Photography was not only Richard's
profession but also his passion. His eye for
composition elevated his work from craft to
art. His colleagues valued him as a mentor
and respected him as a capable competi-
tor in photojournalism. He was an award-
winning photographer in the National Press
Photographers Association.
On most days he would read three news-
papers before anyone else was out of bed.
When admiring his parenting devotion,
other parents and friends would often call
him "Mr. Mom:' He expressed his plentiful
love often in the form a surprise gift or trip
although he disliked being surprised and
sometimes even thwarted others' attempts to
surprise him. Richard will be remembered
for his story telling, wit and gift-of-gab. View

Richard was married to Adrienne Victor
1971-1984. He married Joan Kobernick in
1989.
Mr. Sheinwald attended University of
Miami and was in its ROTC. He worked as a
photojournalist at the Suffolk Sun and for the
Associated Press.
Mr. Sheinwald is survived by his wife,
Joan; son, Roy; sister, Susan Most (Ivan);
brothers-in-law, Michael Kobernick
(Michelle), and Allan Kobernick (Sandra);
dog, Sammy; many nieces, nephews and
friends.
He was predeceased by his son, David;
stepson, Matthew Collins; and niece, Sarah
Gittleman.
A graveside service was held at Temple
Israel Cemetery in Wakefield, Mass.

EARL SILVERMAN, 99, of West Bloomfield,
died Dec. 17, 2014.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-
in-law, Dr. Larry and Patricia Silverman of
West Bloomfield, Gerald Silverman of San
Francisco; grandchildren, Jack Singal (fian-
cee, Camilla Simon), Kara Silverman; many
loving nieces, nephews, other family mem-
bers friends.
Mr. Silverman was the beloved husband of
the late Blanche Silverman.

IRENE RUTH
SILVERMAN, 83, passed
away peacefully in the
presence of her family
and friends at O'Connor
Hospital in San Jose,
Calif., on Dec. 13, 2014.

sive infection that she was
not able to fight.
Born March 31, 1931, in Morris, Manitoba,
Canada, she came to the U.S. in 1952. Irene
lived and worked most of her life in Oak
Park as a nurse and later president of vol-
unteers at Providence Hospital in Southfield
until retiring in 2000 and moving to San
Jose.
Irene was a dedicated wife to her husband,
Morley, and mother to three children. She
will always be remembered for her caring
and compassionate nature and love of family,
the outdoors, gardening and pets.
Mrs. Silverman's survivors include her
sister, Diana Kummer; daughters, Bunny
(Fisher) and Shelly; son, Randy; seven
grandchildren; a great-grandchild on the
way.
A memorial service was held at Temple
Emanu-El in California and beautifully con-
ducted by Rabbi Dana Magat. In respect of
her wishes, cremation will occur at Oak Hill
in San Jose. The family wishes to thank the
relatives and friends who have shown con-
cern and caring at this time.

RENEE WINKLER, 90, of
Oak Park, died Dec. 20,
2014.
As a Holocaust survi-
vor, Mrs. Winkler was a
member of the Hungarian
Survivor Club.
She is survived by her

Mrs. Winkler was the beloved wife for 60
years of the late Joseph Winkler; the sister-
in-law of the late Teddy Winkler.
Interment was at Hebrew Memorial Park.
