Center lit a giant menorah in downtown Birmingham's Shain Park.
The synagogue's rabbi, Boruch Cohen, led the ceremonies, and the
a capella group Pella Ensemble performed. Luscious doughnuts were the bill
of fare.
Six miles down Maple Road in West Bloomfield, Congregation Beth Ahm
families lit menorot before indulging in a dinner of latkes, chili dogs and slid-
ers. Afterward, children were swept up in games, arts and crafts — including
decorating cookies shaped like dreidels and Jewish stars.
