website delves beyond the edges of U.S.-
Israeli diplomacy, isn't shy about assert-
ing that:
• The Jewish state's mere existence
sustains Palestinian terror, not issues like
borders, settlements, refugees, holy sites,
water rights or Jerusalem;
• Israel hasn't focused hard enough
on battling the overriding cause of
Palestinian terror — the teaching of hate;
• The West's compulsion to apply
moral equivalence to Palestinian terror
and Israeli defensive strikes undermines
counter-terrorism efforts.
It behooves America to apply immedi-
ate pressure to clean up Abbas-backed
hypocrisy by threatening to reduce the
$400 million in annual U.S. aid the P.A.
receives. The figure, Ettinger stresses, is
larger than what the Arab oil-producing
nations annually give to the P.A. combined.
Make no mistake about it: U.S. funding
hasn't prodded the P.A. closer to peace-
ful coexistence with Israel and, perhaps
more significantly, hasn't prompted the
P.A. to denounce the teaching of hate.
Exacerbating matters is the brazen
unity agreement the P.A. cut with Hamas,
the terrorist organization ruling the Gaza
Strip and which continues to defiantly
plot and scheme against Israel.
As constituted, the Palestinian
Authority, no matter what civilized
Palestinians might want, lacks the politi-
cal soul to seek common ground with
what Arab/Muslim hate-mongers deroga-
tively refer to as the "Zionist entity:'
That's a sobering fact this Jewish
holiday of Chanukah, which begins at
sundown Tuesday, Dec. 16, and celebrates
the ideals of religious freedom and Jewish
peoplehood.
