ina and Dan Butler drove
from Pittsburgh to attend
Yeshiva Beth Yehudah's
100th-anniversary dinner at the
Marriott Renaissance Center in
Downtown Detroit — and they
weren't disappointed.
Nina's father attended the Yeshiva,
and Dan described the event, which
drew 2,600 guests, as a celebration of
the Southfield-based Orthodox day
school. Dinner guests included for-
mer President George W. Bush and a
legion of political, business, religious
and community leaders and Yeshiva
supporters. The dinner showcased the
richness of Torah and the value of a
Jewish education.
Nancy Grosfeld of Bloomfield
Hills joined the ranks of the Yeshiva
Guardians for helping to set an exam-
ple of friendship and generosity for the
school. Vivian and Dr. George Dean,

married 62 years, received the 2014
Golden Torah Award, the Yeshiva's
highest honor.
"Being children of the Holocaust:'
Dr. Dean said on behalf of the
Bloomfield Hills couple, "the criti-
cal and essential foundation of our
lives has always been God, the Jewish
people and Jewish tradition:'
The Yeshiva operates boys and girls
campuses as well as a preschool, all
offering Jewish learning and a secular
education. Adults study at lunch-
and-learns and through the Jean and
Theodore Weiss Partners in Torah
program.
In appreciation of the school's
growth from four students on Aug. 24,
1914, to 910 today, Yeshiva President
Gary Torgow asked: "Could Rabbi
Yehudah Leib Levin, the namesake
of our Yeshiva, have ever foreseen
the decades of success of growth or
achievement of the countless miracles
that have become the storied history of
this magnificent institution?"
