Dr. Hersh is a published author and speaks
locally, especially to children and families,
regarding the importance of oral health.
Outside the office, he is a member of the Camp
Tamarack and Camp Maas Board of Directors
and has served on the West Bloomfield School
Board for more than 10 years. He and his wife,
Susan, have three daughters, Michelle, Jessica
and Rebecca.
This past year, he went on the trip of a
lifetime to Poland where he taught English
as a second language to children and adults
as well as taught about the Holocaust. "The
most profound trip I've ever been on," he says.
Dr. Hersh is very active with the Holocaust
Memorial Center in Farmington Hills.
Dr. Beattie grew up in Ortonville and calls
Commerce Township, where she lives with her
husband and two children, home. "It's nice to
practice in the area where I live," she says. Both
of her children attend Walled Lake Schools,
where she is active in the PTA.
"Most of our patients recognize that we care
about education and kids no matter where
they live," Dr. Beattie says. "We support many
local school districts, including Walled Lake,
West Bloomfield, Farmington, Waterford and
Huron Valley, to name a few."
Drs. Hersh, Beattie and Isenberg have
undertaken specialist training beyond dental
school and continue to keep up-to-date on the
latest advances in comprehensive orthodontia,
including early interceptive treatment, growth
modification and guidance, as well as space
maintenance.
They offer a wide range of braces to meet
the needs of each individual patient, including
clear brackets and Invisalign treatment, plastic
aligners, which straighten teeth without

noticeable, bulky materials. Hersh-Beattie
Orthodontics is a certified Invisalign provider.
Their office is equipped with an in-house lab
and state-of-the-art technology, such as digital
imaging, to ensure patients receive optimum
results.

WHEN TO SEE THE ORTHODONTIST
At Hersh-Beattie Orthodontics, initial
consultations are free. And no referrals are
needed. "We evaluate what needs to be done
and what can be done to make the child's
smile nicer," says Dr. Hersh, who prefers to see
patients between the ages of 7 and 10. "It's
not necessary — or advised — to wait until the
baby teeth fall out. We specialize in preventing
problems as the permanent teeth come in."
Dr. Beattie adds, "Orthodontics doesn't
provide only cosmetic benefits. It provides
dental health benefits as well — a smile and a
bite that functions properly."
All doctors and staff at Hersh-Beattie
Orthodontics work to ensure that the kids
are comfortable in the office and they feel
comfortable asking questions.
"When we see patients and recommend
treatment, we want to educate them as well
as their parents to ensure they understand our
goals, and we'll have multiple consultations to
be sure that happens;' Dr. Beattie says.
Drs. Hersh and Beattie recently added
another orthodontist, Dr. Amy Isenberg, to the
staff in order to expand their afterschool hours.
"We do not like kids missing school, even for a
visit here."

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
Drs. Hersh and Beattie also know the
importance of giving back. "I want to serve as

an example to my children," Dr. Hersh says.
"Serving others is what it means to be a good
Jew."
He and Dr. Beattie share a passion for
education and volunteer both time and
finances to improve local education. Their
office supports many sports leagues, school
teams of varying types, extra-curricular
activities, in-school science presentations,
gymnastic facilities and dance studios, and
have sponsored fund-raising events at schools
throughout Oakland County.
"We're more than just an orthodontic office;
we're a family. I treat every patient as if they
were my own family. I'm starting to see second-
generation patients coming in. I recognize their
parents from when they came in for braces!"
Dr. Hersh says.
Adds Dr. Beattie, "It's enriching to see how
people value their beautiful smiles and how it
adds to their self-esteem. We're honored to be
a part of that journey."
