GOOD SERVER DEPT. ... Brittany

Harbor, with the kind of smile that so
many servers should be flashing ... And
so efficient and personable that the former
Ocean Prime server is already being asked
for again and again at the new restaurant.
MAIL DEPT. ... Author, historian "Mr.
Baseball:' etc., Irwin Cohen, embellishes
on the speech by George W. Bush at the
recent annual Yeshiva Beth Yehudah din-
ner ... "Most people don't remember that
the 43rd president was part-owner and
managing general partner of the Texas
Rangers from 1989 until elected governor
of Texas in 1994. More than anything,
he wanted the Rangers to win the World
Series so he could get a World Series
ring. It didn't happen under his watch,
though:'
(Former Yeshiva Beth Yehudah student
Irwin Cohen, who recently received a
Pillars of Excellence Award at the Michigan
Jewish Sports Hall of Fame Induction
Dinner, was the only one attending the
YBY dinner that sported a World Series
ring ... Cohen received his ring when he
worked in the Tigers' front office in 1984.)
OLDIE BUT GOODIE DEPT. ... A
rabbi and a priest get into a car accident
and it's a bad one. Both cars are totally
demolished. Amazingly, neither of the
clerics is hurt.
After they crawl out of their cars, the
rabbi sees the priest's collar and says, "So,
you're a priest. I'm a rabbi. Just look at
our cars. There's nothing left, but we are
unhurt. This must be a sign from God.
God must have meant that we should meet
and live together in peace the rest of our
days:'
The priest replies, "I agree with you
completely. This must be a sign from God:'
The rabbi continues, "And look at
this. Here's another miracle. My car is
completely demolished and this bottle of
Mogen David wine didn't break. Surely
God wants us to drink and celebrate our
good fortune:'
He hands the bottle to the priest. The
priest agrees, takes a few big swigs, hands
the bottle back to the rabbi. The rabbi
takes the bottle, immediately puts the cap
on, and hands it back to the priest.
The priest asks, "Aren't you having any?
"No:' replies the rabbi. "I think I'll wait
for the police:'
