my Hammer is a doer.
As long as she can
remember, she has always
juggled multiple projects at a time —
and she does it well.
After college, she worked briefly as a
banker. When her children were young,
she worked as a substitute teacher. As
they grew older, she became involved
in volunteer work — but not just a
day here and there. Hammer managed
large-scale operations, like the West
Bloomfield JCC's Jewish Book Fair, for
many years, and since leaving Metro
Detroit for Greenville, S.C., a few years
ago, she has become a go-to for a hand-
ful of synagogues and other Jewish
community projects, including helping
create a Jewish Federation.
But she's also got an eye for design.

New Jersey to manage the cosmetics
department. She has worked as an art
framer, in art galleries, as an interior
designer and hosts annual art shows in
her home, with proceeds benefitting a

quality engineer for General Motors
who now works as a consultant, suf-
fered a downturn with the rest of the
automotive industry, Amy began to
