JARC's young adult pre-glow
fundraiser draws a crowd.

T

wo thousand guests came out to support
JARC's 34th annual fall fundraiser
featuring street magician and modern-day
Houdini David Blaine on Nov. 11 at the Max
M. Fisher Orchestra Hall in Detroit. The event, chaired
by Scott Werner and associate chair Jason Weiss, raised
$1.35 million for JARC.
The evening kicked off with the Illusion Lounge,
an exclusive young adult (ages 21-40) and corporate
sponsor pre-glow strolling dinner and cocktail reception
catered by Quality Kosher Catering. More than 450
young professionals attended. Tom Butwin and Detroit
Circus provided live entertainment.
"The Illusion Lounge pre-glow is a great way for the

next generation to support JARC, and we were thrilled
to have such an amazing turnout this year," said Jodi
Fox, one of the chairs of this year's pre-glow and JARC
board member. "We had almost a 50 percent increase in
attendance this year compared to last year."
David Blaine wowed the audience with his trailblazing
brand of magic.
"David Blaine is one of the most creative and
mesmerizing magicians in the world, and we were thrilled
to bring him to Michigan for our fall fundraiser to help
us continue the magic of JARC," said Rick Loewenstein,
CEO of JARC. "Thanks to him and all of our JARC family,
friends and supporters, we are only $50,000 away from
our fundraising goal of $1.4 million this year."
