JEWISH

The Gourmet Jewish Cookbook: More Than
200 Recipes from Around the World (St.
Martin's Press/Thomas Dunne Books) by
Denise Phillips
From modern spins on Schnitzel Noodle
Stir Fry and Matzah Granola to sophisticated
dishes like Veal Chops with Mushroom
Sauce, British cookbook author Denise
Phillips presents a new take on kosher clas-
sics.
Originally published in Britain in 2012,
this 2014 American version includes recipes
that take under 30 minutes and are appropri-
ate for diabetics, vegetarians and gluten-free
diners.

Secret Restaurant Recipes: From the
World's Top Kosher Restaurants (Artscroll/
Mesorah Publications) by Leah Schapira
and Victoria Dwek
After writing four popular cookbooks
— by home cooks and for home cooks
(including the Made Easy cookbook series)
— Schapira and Dwek have turned to profes-
sional restaurant kitchens. Dishes from more
than 70 top kosher restaurants from all over
the world, as well as tips, techniques and fla-
vor pairings from today's best kosher chefs,
are featured.
Check out elegant dishes from Reserve Cut
and Prime Grill in New York City, Tierra Sur
and La Gondola in L.A., as well as recipes
from celebrity chefs such as Jeff Nathan.

Gleeson moved, with her rabbi hus-
band, from New York City to a tiny
cabin in a California forest to be closer
to nature. The natural beauty of her sur-
roundings and the abundance of local
produce are the inspiration for this
cookbook, based on her popular blog.
Most of the book's 100 wholly veg-
etarian recipes — such as Eggplant
Tacos with Brie and Cilantro, Rosemary
Shortbread and Blackberry Negroni —
call for only three or four ingredients
and require very few steps. Vibrant pho-
tographs, Gleeson's own fanciful water-
color illustrations and hand-lettering
enhance the rustic simplicity of the
dishes.

Plenty More: Vibrant Vegetable
Cooking from London's Ottolenghi (Ten
Speed Press) by Yotam Ottolenghi
Israeli-born London restaurateur
Yotam Ottolenghi's bestselling 2011
cookbook, Plenty, caused an internation-
al produce-cooking craze, changing the
way people cook and eat vegetables.
In this follow-up — with recipes for
more than 150 bold, flavorful, vegetable-
centric dishes that include grains and
legumes and emphasize spices and fresh
ingredients — he adds exotic produce
finds (kashk, dakos and black garlic to
name a few), focuses on cooking meth-
ods that best utilize and elevate each
component's potential and includes
beautiful color photographs for such
dishes as Tomato and Pomegranate
Salad, Buttermilk-Crusted Okra, Candy

This second volume from the six Jewish
Australian women who make up the Monday
Morning Cooking Club features best-loved
recipes and stories from the heart and soul of
the Australian Jewish community.
With more than 100 recipes for every
occasion — from everyday eating to feasting,

dishes that have been handed down through
the generations as well as new classics in
comfort food. Beautiful photographs by Alan
Benson enhance the presentation.

VB6 with an explanation of the plan and a
