Leven-year-old John Von Gott
started out his letter to Angels
and Dreamers like this: "I think
the world should be a better place."
Don't we all? And it will be a better
place if children like John get their way.
"One way for the world to be a bet-
ter place is for everybody to do good
things:' wrote John, who wanted to find
an elderly person he could help and
"make their day happy"
The sixth-grader, who is home-
schooled and lives in Goodrich, learned
about Angels and Dreamers from his
mother, Jana Von Gott, who has been
studying with Rabbi Daniel Syme and
making the hour-long trip to attend
services at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield
Township for the past three years.
"Temple is where my heart is:' Jana
said. "John comes with me frequently.
When rabbi told me about Angels and
Dreamers, I thought of him. He's always
been super-helpful."
Noah Ostheimer 9, of White Lake — a
founder of Angels and Dreamers — and
his sister Sarah, 6, also lent a hand.

Sheldon Stern enjoy cider and donuts
with rake-holder John Von Gott.
Rabbi Syme arranged for John, his
brothers and sisters, and the gang to
meet on the front lawn of the home of
Temple Beth El congregants Dr. Sheldon
and Jessie Stern in Franklin for an after-
noon of leaf-raking and fellowship.
Jessie Stern is recovering from a
stroke, and although Dr. Stern said he
usually has a landscaping company, the
children, the beautiful weather and the
delicious cider and donuts made for an
afternoon that lifted everyone's spirits.
Dr. Stern was so moved by the chil-
dren's hard work, he said he would make
a donation to Mitzvah Meals at Temple
Beth El in their honor.
