Crohn's/Colitis Benefit
At Maple Theater
The 37th Annual Gala Evening at the
Movies benefits the Michigan Chapter
of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation
of America (CCFA). The annual fun-
draising celebration, which includes
a strolling dinner from Andiamo,
desserts from Just Baked and a new
release film screening, will recognize
Detroit News columnist and SocialD.
com founder Chuck Bennett for his
professional achievements and work
throughout the Metro Detroit com-
munity.
The organization will also present
the Rosenthal Lifetime Achievement
award to Dr. Jason H. Bodzin, in
memoriam, for his ongoing support of
CCFA and commitment to his patients
and community.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Maple
Theater in Bloomfield Township. The
movie begins at 8 p.m. Attire is cock-
tail comfortable. Co-hosts are Amy
Andrews and Roop Raj from Fox2.

Veteran's Day
Brunch Planned
At B'nai Moshe
A brunch honoring military
veterans will be presented by
Congregation B'nai Moshe
Men's Club at 10 a.m. Sunday,
Nov. 9, at the West Bloomfield
synagogue.
After brunch, Sgt. Ori Fisher
and 1st Sgt. Chaim Friedman

of the Israel Defense Forces will

speak on "Growing Up in the
Shadow of War."
Fisher studies at the Otniel Hesder yeshivah and served in the IDF
Artillery Corps. He has worked with children through Bnei Akiva and other
volunteer projects.
Friedman was born in Cleveland; he and his family now live in southern
Israel. He enlisted in the Israeli Navy, serving at the naval training base in
Haifa. He has volunteered with children of all ages.
They are currently spending a year at the Frankel Jewish Academy and at
Ohel Moed Synagogue, both in West Bloomfield, as Bnei Akiva emissaries.
There is a $12 charge for the brunch and reservations are required. There
is no charge for the presentation at 10:45 a.m., but reservations are request-

jects like tattoos, homosexuality and
premarital relations.
Participants are asked to come
with all those questions they've
never felt comfortable asking before
and an open mind.
