n Sept. 12-13, the Michigan
F.A.S.H. Fest audience was filled
with anticipation before each of
the dozen-plus fashion runway showcases.
At the Skillman Detroit Public Library
on Friday night, the show featured six
designers including two local women. One
was Leslie Ann Piling, CEO/founder of
Michigan F.A.S.H. Fest LLC, who launched
CUREiosites, a classic yet edgy collection
manufactured in-house with lux fabrics.
The other was Nancy Gad-Harf, who pre-
sented wearable art accessories created
with thousands of seed beads embellished
by found object amulets.
Saturday continued with the youth styl-
ist showcase featuring Jillian Telebelo, 17,
of Southfield, launching Double Barrel.
She was selected to show and the crowd
was impressed by her talent.
"Double Barrel is a mash up of many
looks, but I have come to describe it as
Neo-Victorian grunge' — how I would
dress in a modern version of Victorian
fashion:' she said.
"The Michigan Fash Fest experi-
ence really opened my eyes that I can do
something productive with my 'costum-
ing: I couldn't be more grateful and happy
about it!" ❑
