"While at an exhibit about the Polish resistance, I found out about Lola Lieber, who had been perceived as a gentile while on the run from the Nazis. Her story so engaged me that I started to think about other women whose stories hadn't been told:' Gilbert looked for others by sending out queries to synagogues, commu- nity centers and Jewish organizations. Brysk, who lives in Ann Arbor, will discuss her own history and the digital artistry dedicated to images of the Holocaust that she developed and has shown through some 30 solo exhibits. "I will give historical context to Faye Schulman's work and talk about the Jewish partisans:' says Brysk. "I also will show five of my latest artworks and explain what made Jews escape to the forests:' Brysk wants people to understand the impact of the partisans in a time when Jews in the Soviet Union were being taken out of ghettos and shot. "I went back to Europe in 2001 to visit the ghettos and the camps," Brysk says. "Because of the emotions I felt, I 3426 E. West Ma0e Rd. at Haggerty Rd.
