Multimedia Concert "Sing For The Cure" Set For Oct. 23 Rackham Choir and the Detroit Institute of Arts presents "Sing for the Cure: A Proclamation of Hope," a multimedia concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Detroit Institute of Arts Film Theatre in Detroit in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The concert, performed nation- wide, tells the story of the journey of an entire community that comes together when faced with cancer. In this Metro Detroit debut, Rackham Choir, accompanied by Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings under the direction of Suzanne Mallare Acton, presents an inspirational program with narrations by cancer survivors, caretakers and community leaders. Written by 10 composers in a variety of musical styles ranging from swing to jazz to Broadway, the performance voices the powerful testimonies of hope, survival and even humor in the struggles of those affected by cancer. Narrators include Charlie Langton, Fox2 News & WWJ Newsradio; Lori Maher Duggan, Detroit First Lady; Ellen Tilly, Michigan Breast Cancer Coalition; Dr. Glenda Price, Detroit Public School Foundation; Maud Lyon, CultureSource; Katrina Studvent, Detroit Komen Race for the Cure; Bill Ziegler, representing Gilda's Club Detroit; Brenda Kambakhsh, represent- ing The Pink Fund; Emily Eichenhorn, Rackham Choir; and Nancy O'Keefe, representing Sister's Hope.
