Learn Hair Wrap
Techniques At
Aish HaTorah Event
Wrapunzel visits Detroit Sunday,
Oct. 19, with a live demonstration
of elegant hair-wrapping at Aish
HaTorah, 25725 Coolidge in Oak
Park. Rivka Malka Perlman and
Andrea Grinberg, who run the popu-
lar website, www.wrapunzel.com , will
discuss the concept of hair wrapping
and give personal tutorials in the art
of expressing personality and style
with beautiful scarves and acces-
sories.
Doors open at 6:45 p.m. with
refreshments; the demonstration
begins at 7:30 p.m. Jewish women of
all levels of affiliation are welcome.
Admission of $15 benefits the Bridal
Canopy, an organization that loans
wedding gowns and helps out local

Multimedia Concert
"Sing For The Cure"
Set For Oct. 23
Rackham Choir and the Detroit
Institute of Arts presents "Sing for
the Cure: A Proclamation of Hope,"
a multimedia concert at 8 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Detroit
Institute of Arts Film Theatre in
Detroit in honor of Breast Cancer
Awareness Month.
The concert, performed nation-
wide, tells the story of the journey
of an entire community that comes
together when faced with cancer. In
this Metro Detroit debut, Rackham
Choir, accompanied by Detroit
Chamber Winds and Strings under
the direction of Suzanne Mallare
Acton, presents an inspirational
program with narrations by cancer
survivors, caretakers and community
leaders.
Written by 10 composers in a
variety of musical styles ranging

from swing to jazz to Broadway, the
performance voices the powerful
testimonies of hope, survival and
even humor in the struggles of those
affected by cancer.
Narrators include Charlie Langton,
Fox2 News & WWJ Newsradio; Lori
Maher Duggan, Detroit First Lady;
Ellen Tilly, Michigan Breast Cancer
Coalition; Dr. Glenda Price, Detroit
Public School Foundation; Maud Lyon,
CultureSource; Katrina Studvent,
Detroit Komen Race for the Cure;
Bill Ziegler, representing Gilda's Club
Detroit; Brenda Kambakhsh, represent-
ing The Pink Fund; Emily Eichenhorn,
Rackham Choir; and Nancy O'Keefe,
representing Sister's Hope.

Wayne, Oakland and Macomb coun-

BBYO Joins National
Food Collection Drive
BBYO, the world's leading plural-
istic Jewish youth movement, and
DoSomething.org , the largest non-
profit for young people and social
change, are collaborating on "Can-
Tribute," a campaign that will rally
Jewish youth across the country to
fight poverty in their local commu-
nity through a food collection drive.
When the campaign ends Nov.
6, leaders of the top three biggest
drives will win a pre-screening of the
Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 for
themselves and 20 friends.
