Torah as a bat mitz-
vah on Saturday, Oct.
11, at Temple Israel
in West Bloomfield.
Sharing in her sim-
chah will be her sib-
lings Max and Aidan. Hannah is the
grandchild of Sonny and Norman
Cohn, and Sheila and the late Eliot
Charlip.
Hannah is a student at Hillel Day
School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills. Her most meaning-
ful mitzvah project involved donat-
ing to Susan G. Komen for the Cure,
whose mission is to help educate, sup-
port research, offer grants that provide
financial and emotional assistance
and advocate for better breast cancer
policy.

sister Shelby. Her grandparents are
Kendra Tobes, the late Allan Tobes,
and Beverly and Arthur Chabon.
Emily attends Clifford Smart Middle
School in Commerce Township.
Among her many mitzvah projects,
she felt her most meaningful project
was raising funds and collecting sup-
plies to support the animals and facil-
ity of Turtle Creek Farm.

in West Bloomfield.
Sharing in his cele-
bration will be his
proud grandmother Suzanne
Tabashnik. Shel is also the grandchild
of the late Sheldon Krause, the late
David Tabashnik and Walter Grzych.
Shel is a student at Roeper Middle
School in Birmingham. As part of his
mitzvah project, he continues to orga-
nize an effort to collect school supplies
for underprivileged elementary school
students in the city of Detroit.

Shayla Brie Wedgle,
daughter of Denise
and Paige Wedgle,
will be called to the
Torah to celebrate
her bat mitzvah on
Friday, Oct. 10, at
Temple Israel in
Wedgle
West Bloomfield.
Joining in the cele-
bration will be her sister Leah and
proud grandparents Eileen and Eric
Hemmi. Shayla is also the grandchild
of the late Lorraine Wedgle.
Shayla is a student at O.E. Dunckel
Middle School in Farmington Hills.
As part of her mitzvah experience, she
volunteered at the Temple Israel Labor
Day Picnic.

o celebrate the 90th birthday of Donald Polk, a dinner was held at Cafe
Cortina in Farmington on Sept. 24. Mr. Polk has been married to Linda
Polk for 63 years and has three children.
He was a dentist for many years and is now retired. He is known among his
friends and family for his sense of humor and his caring nature.
