Stars Guitars Event Aids
Kids Surviving Cancer
When a child beats cancer, it's usually not
the end of the story; it's only the end of
the first chapter.
• Two-thirds suffer health issues relat-
ed to their lifesaving treatments. This
includes heart/lung/kidney diseases,
developmental delays, vision and hear-
ing problems and more.
• Missed school, cognitive impairment
and learning disabilities, all secondary
to their prior therapy, affect their educa-
tion.
• The families are often financially
devastated.
Drs. Charles Main and Richard Keidan
both feel it's unacceptable if everything
possible isn't done to ensure that these
children and young adults are function-
ing at their maximum capacity.
Stars Guitars is an annual fundraising
event that enables countless children to
receive appropriate health care at the
Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic and an
opportunity to go to college thanks to
the Charles Main M.D. Pediatric Cancer
Survivor Scholarship Fund.
Keidan's Detroit2Nepa1 (D2N)
Foundation funds the clinic, which is
held twice monthly, and provides funds
for anyone without insurance or those
that have expenses not covered by their
insurance. The scholarship fund pro-
vides $2,000 annually as long as recipi-
ents remain in school.
This year's event is Saturday, Oct. 11,
at the Ford Community and Performing
Arts Center in Dearborn. The doors
open at 6 p.m., with festivities that
include a strolling gourmet dinner, a
silent auction featuring signed celebrity
guitars and more, and a concert featur-
ing the band America.
For tickets or information, including
the list of available autographed guitars
and other auction items, go to www
starsguitars.org or call (248) 551-9887.
Tickets are $75 and $125, and all dona-
tions are tax deductible.
Victor led the
American Israel
Public Affairs
Committee for two
years, 2008-2010.
When he addressed
the AIPAC convention
at the end of his term,
David Victor
Victor said, "Each
year, we are joined by
larger and larger numbers of non-Jewish
friends who understand that a strong
Israel is not merely a Jewish value, it is
an American value!'
The event is sponsored by the Jewish
Bar Association of Michigan (JBAM)
and is open to the public. The cost of the
talk is $5. JBAM and AIPAC members
will be admitted at no charge. For infor-
mation, contact JBAM president Rachel
Loebl at (248) 733-5530 or rachel@
