MARTIN HERMAN, 88,

of Novi, died Sept. 21,
2014.
Mr. Herman owned

and was a talented artist
and photographer, hav-

Menninger's Art School.
He was an avid golfer and taught golf
lessons for many years after retirement; he
was loved and respected by his students.
Mr. Herman was a founding member of
Beth Shalom Synagogue, where he was
past president of the Men's Club. He served
in World War II and he received a Bronze
Medal.
Mr. Herman is survived by his loving
daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Dr.
Daniel Seff of Longwood, Fla., Beth and
Eli Maroko of West Bloomfield, Barbara
and Dr. Alex Green of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Ilana and Ari Seff, Jordan,
Alex and Abby Maroko, and Nicole, Austin
and Taylor Green. He was the brother-in-
law of Arnold and Mary Davidson, Dr.
Maurice and Randy Davidson, and Sondra
Herman. He is also survived by many
other family members and friends who
will miss his wit and sense of humor.
Mr. Herman was the beloved husband
for 61 years of the late Judith Herman.
He was the identical twin brother of the
late Leonard Herman and the late Theresa
Bookman; brother-in-law of the late Jean
Davidson; devoted son of the late Henry
and the late Leah Herman.
Contributions may be made to the
Alzheimer's Association, 25200 Telegraph
Road, Suite 100, Southfield, MI 48033;
or to a charity of one's choice. Interment
was held at Clover Hill Park Cemetery in
Birmingham. Arrangements by Hebrew

ROGER DAVID PERSIN, 70, of West

Bloomfield, died Sept. 24, 2014.
Mr. Persin was a certified public accoun-
tant in private practice, and previously was
an accounting manager and finance ana-
lyst at Ford Motor Company for 26 years.

He was active at

Mr. Persin was the beloved husband
of Marcia Persin; cherished father of
Michele Persin and Stephanie (Yaakov)
Erez; loving "Papa" of Sarah Shirli Erez
and Elisheva Erez; brother of Gary
(Sharel) Persin of Charlotte, N.C.;
devoted son of the late Eddie and the late
Shirley Persin; nephew of Helen Newman
and Alice Blumberg. He leaves a world
of other family, friends, clients and col-
leagues throughout Michigan who loved
him.

devoted daughter of the late Nathan and

GEORGE ARTHUR WARREN, 100, of
Acton, Mass., died Sept. 20.
A longtime resident of Detroit, he
attended Northern High School (Class
of 1931), and City College of Detroit,

now Wayne State University Law School
(1939).
A member of the Michigan State Bar
since 1939, he began working for the city
of Detroit in 1940, serving for the Civil
Service Commission, eventually as chief
of classification. He retired in 1976 and
then served on the board of directors
of the Detroit Retired City Employees
Association. He also served four terms as
trustee of the Pension Board and contrib-
uted to the drafting of its charter.
His parents, Oscar and Rebecca
Warren, were active members of the
Workman's Circle, and Rebecca was presi-
dent of her chapter of Pioneer Women.
George and Ruth Cohn Warren were
married by Rabbi M. Robert Syme in
1955 and subsequently became members
of Temple Israel until they moved to
Massachusetts in 1994.
Mr. Warren was the husband of the late
Marilyn Ruth (Cohn) Warren; son of the
late Oscar and the late Rebecca Warren.
He was the father of Edward Warren of
Nashua, N.H., and Martha Warren and
husband, Peter Clark, of Boxboro, Mass.;
loving grandfather of David J. Clark of
Boxboro and the late Michael N. Clark;
cherished brother of Geraldine Ziff and
husband, Albert; beloved uncle of Laura
Ziff Lentin and Stephen P. Ziff; beloved
cousin of Dr. Lana Stein. He also leaves
many loving cousins, grandnieces and
grandnephews.
A memorial observance was held
at his home in Acton. Contributions
