B'nai B'rith:
The Jewish
Address In Eve
COMM] n
'NAI B'RITH INTERNATIONAL, with a presence in
more than 50 countries, is the global voice of the
Jewish community, making a difference by striving to
improve the quality of life and promoting B'nai B'rith values
in the areas of community service youth education, public
action, senior housing and health awareness. By maintain-
ing a full-time presence at the United Nations, B'nai B'rith is
strategically positioned to support and defend the State of
Israel and its right to defend themselves.
IN MICHIGAN, B'nai B'rith Great Lakes Region is the Jew-
ish address in the community, partnering with other Jewish
communal agencies, for the annual Martin Luther King Jr.
Commemoration, Walk for Israel, Relay For Life, United We
Walk, Walk For Friendship, Jewish Film Festival and Jewish
Book Fair.
OUR VOLUNTEERS provide the much-needed "people
power" by participating in many community service
projects: Annual B'nai B'rith Baseball Day at Tiger Stadium,
Project H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People Everywhere) for Pass-
over and for Break The Fast after Yom Kipper, Yom HaShoah
"Unto Every Person There Is A Name" (Holocaust remem-
brance and education). They donate many hours of their
time at Yad Ezra food bank and Friendship Circle. Members
of Accountant's Unit donate their services to our seniors by
doing their annual tax returns.

advocacy.
DISASTER RESPONSE: Since 1865, B'nai B'rith has
responded with millions of dollars of needed assis-
tance to help the victims of hundreds of disasters —
both natural and manmade — around the world.
SPORTS: Our volunteers participate in bowling,
basketball, softball and golf leagues.
FUNDRAISING includes our Annual Golf Classic
event, our Annual GATA (Great American Traditions
Award) dinners and, more recently, our new signature
program, B'nai B'rith Great Lake Region's College
Scholarship Program.
The First B'nai B'rith Lodge was started in 1888 ...
Today there are 70 active BB Lodges in Israel. B'nai
B'rith World Center in Jerusalem is a key link between
Israel and B'nai B'rith members and supporters.
"A Jew today is a person who ensures his grand-
children are Jewish ... that is what B'nai B'rith does ...
and it does it very well."
