GEORGE
OHRENSTEIN, 88, died
Sept. 18, 2014.
He was the owner
of George Ohrenstein
Jewelry Store, first in
Detroit and then at 11
Mile and Lahser until
Ohrenstein
1992.
c. 1981
Mr. Ohrenstein then
worked until the age
of 85 at the Skyline
Jewelers in Troy. As a
registered jeweler with
the American Gem
Society, he became a
gemologist of the high-
est order.
He was a past president of the
Michigan Chapter of the American Gem
Society, a past president of the Michigan
Watchmakers Guild, and he was also a
certified master watchmaker. He also was
a speaker at the local Holocaust Memorial
Center.
Mr. Ohrenstein is survived by his wife
of 65 years, Roselie Ohrenstein; daughters
and sons-in-law, Flora and Marc Friedman
of Dallas, Texas, Denise and Peter Rodgers
of Huntington Woods; brother, Bernard
Ohrenstein; grandchildren, Adam and
Kathryn Zack, Eric and Marla Zack,
Theodore and Miriam Rodgers, David and
Betty Rodgers; great-grandchildren, Louis
Zack, Moshe Rodgers, Evan Rodgers; other
loving and dear relatives, including Felicia
Liban.
Mr. Ohrenstein was the dear brother
and brother-in-law of the late Eva and the
late Sam Anderman, and the late Helen
Ohrenstein.

WAYNE YASHINSKY,
70, of Bloomfield Hills,
died Sept. 21, 2014.
A lawyer, and a mem-
ber of the Michigan
Bar Association, Mr.
Yashinsky was also a
thespian and played
Yashinsky
with Village Players
of Birmingham. A previous member of
Congregation Beth Shalom, he was a
member of the Geezers and was an avid
golfer for years with a select group of
friends.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years,
Stephanie Malter Yashinsky; mother, Ann
Yashinsky; sons and daughter-in-law,
Jason Yashinsky of San Francisco, Calif.,
Neil and Lori Medina Yashinsky of Troy,
Lorne Gaum of Louisville, Ky.; daughter
and son-in-law, Ashley and Jacob Cohen
of New York, N.Y.; brother and sister-in-
law, Jerry and Marcia Yashinsky of Del
Ray Beach, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law,
Elaine and Marty Shapiro of Farmington
Hills; grandchildren, Emma Yashinsky,
Rafael Yashinsky, Ariela Yashinsky, Elian
