Bloomfield Hills, died Sept.
11, 2014.
She was one of Metro Detroit's
most prominent philanthropists,
well-known in the community for
her steadfast support of numerous
organizations, including Michigan
Humane Society, Boys & Girls Clubs
of Southeastern Michigan, Karmanos
Cancer Institute, Oakland Family
Services, the Lighthouse, Cornerstone
Schools, Cranbrook Academy
of Arts and the Detroit Zoo.
Mrs. Erdeljan chaired
the Women's Health Expo
and served on the execu-
tive boards of the Michigan
Humane Society, Women's
Committee for Hospice Care,
Karmanos Cancer Institute,
Lillian
Michigan Opera Theatre
and the Alzheimer's Association of
Michigan. She was a lifelong member
of Hadassah-WIZO and a member of
the International Women's Forum.
For her commitment to the bet-
terment of the community, she was
the recipient of numerous awards,
including Northwood University's
Distinguished Women's Award,
Karmanos Cancer Institute's Heroes
of Breast Cancer Philanthropy Award,
Women's Association of Boys and
Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan's
In Celebration Award.
Born in Belgrade to Nikola
Budimir and Larissa Budimir
Toskovic, she and her family escaped
the Communist regime to start a new
life in Canada. She grew up, was edu-

Compassionate and caring, she
dedicated her life to helping others

by her family and friends and will be
long remembered and dearly missed.
Mrs. Erdeljan is
survived by her loving
husband of 34 years,

A funeral was held at Temple
Beth El in Bloomfield Township.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park

eventy years ago this month,
Anne Frank and her Secret
Annex co-fugi-
tives arrived at Auschwitz-
Birkenau in a sealed cattle
car.
For decades, the public
knew almost nothing
about Frank's post-capture
experience, except that
she died with her sister
Margot at a place called
Anne Frank
Bergen-Belsen.
Finally, in 1988, a Dutch television

documentary — aptly named The Last
Seven Months of Anne Frank — fleshed
out what happened to Frank after her
deportation and after being in hiding
with her family in Amsterdam.
Frank arrived at
Auschwitz-Birkenau after
an unprecedented, sum-
mer-long killing frenzy in
which more than 400,000
Hungarian Jews were
gassed.
The Frank and van
Pels families had main-
tained good health during
two years in hiding, so
they survived the initial "selection"
