DOROTHY SCHECHTER HOYT, 92, of West Bloomfield, formerly of Boynton Beach, Fla., died Sept. 11, 2014. Hoyt Before retiring, she was the manager of the con- struction and maintenance divi- sion of Borman Foods and presi- dent of its credit union. She was also a longtime volunteer at Sinai Hospital and for the last four years the "Pearl Mesta" of Hechtman Apartments. Mrs. Hoyt is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Stewart Levin, Hope and Gene Silverman, Lynn and Ed Kirwin, and Francine and George Smiley; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kim Schechter; grand- children, Jordan Lowy, Todd and Taal Hasak-Lowy, Adam Lowy and Shira Rutman, Marla and Travis Stills, Denise Silverman, Mary Reed, Sean and Vera Smiley, Jeff Pine, Ruth Smiley and Jon-Paul Salonen, Jeremy Smiley and Linda Malima, Carla Schechter, Noah Schechter and Joey Schechter; great-grandchildren, Ariel Hasak- Lowy, Noam Hasak-Lowy, Irit Rutman-Lowy, Micah Rutman- Lowy, Hayden Stills, Ava Stills, Evan Silverman, Sean Reed, Elizabeth Reed, Collin Reed, Hanna Reed, James Pine, Dallas Pine, Malte Salonen, Rya Salonen, Dylan Smiley and Jade Smiley; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will also be missed by Ivan's children, Harvey and Jan Hoyt, Roger and Sandy Hoyt, Joleen and Scott Karson; their chil- dren and grandchildren. For 51 1 /2 years, Mrs. Hoyt was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Schechter; for 11 years, the adored wife and traveling companion of the late Ivan Hoyt; the cherished daughter of the late Frank and the late Clara Birnbaum; the loving sister of the late Laura Gray and the late Loyd Birnbaum; the devoted grandmother of the late Tara Pine.
