Sex-Slave Survivor
To Speak To NCJW
Theresa Flores will speak about
human trafficking in the U.S. at
National Council of Jewish Women's
Fall Focus at 6:30 p.m. at the
Birmingham Temple in Farmington
Hills, Tuesday, Sept. 16.
She is the author of The Slave
Across the Street, a USA Today and
Wall Street Journal bestseller, and

tional book offers a look into her
escape from her traffickers and
her struggle to heal.
She is also the founder of
S.O.A.P. (Save our Adolescents
from Prostitution), a hands-on
outreach to fight sex trafficking at
large events and in communities.
Its mission is to rescue victims
being trafficked at hotels, to pro-
vide victims a number to call for
help, to educate motels and hotels
on the signs of trafficking, and
to mobilize volunteers on human
trafficking outreach.
Flores has been a guest on The
Today Show and MSNBC'S Sex
Slaves-The Teen Trade. She has
also been featured on Nightline,
America's Most Wanted and For
the Record as a sex-slave survivor.
Originally from Birmingham,
Flores has been a licensed social
worker for more than 20 years.
