A gently curved Grohe faucet directs attention to
Lauter's prized white fireclay farmhouse-style apron-
front sink, both from Advance Plumbing & Heating

Supply Company in Walled Lake.

A third floor-to-ceiling pantry, with easy-access roll-out shelving, allows everything Lauter needs
to be at hand. "She didn't want a separate walk-in pantry," says Stalburg-Bell. "Her kids are always
in the kitchen with her, either helping her cook or playing and working on projects, and she didn't

want to take her eyes off of them for a second." Simple sconces act as jewelry on the wall above
the buffet; and above the dining table, which does double duty for everyday and frequent special
occasions with the couple's large extended family, a Restoration Hardware metal-shaded drum
pendant brings a modern contrast to the rustic Windsor-style chairs.

A sweet turned-leg Windsor-style highchair — which was
Jon's when he was a baby — now allows 3-year-old Talia
to dine like the grownups.
