Detroit, where he grew up and went
to public schools. An alumnus of
the University of Michigan, class
of 1959, Al was a proud Wolverine.
Always a dedicated Jew, Al knew
he was a link in the chain of Jewish
tradition.
A community servant, he served
many years on the board of trustees
of Temple B'nai Israel in Clearwater,
Fla., and was, from 1977-1979,
the congregation's president. In
Tallahassee, he was on the board of
trustees of Temple Israel and was
president of the Jewish Federation.
Al was devoted to living, helping
others and making the world a bet-
ter place.
Those who knew Al knew him for
the full person he was: loving, car-
ing, sharing.
Mr. Sulkes is survived by his
beloved sons, Neil (Cathy) Sulkes,
and Scott (Marc) Sulkes; their moth-
er; grandson, Leo Maxwell Sulkes
Ginsberg; brother, Sanford (Shirley)
Sulkes; wife, Loyce Farr Sulkes, the
great love of his golden years.
There was a private family burial;
memorial service at Temple Israel
in Tallahassee. Contributions may
be made to the Tallahassee Jewish
Federation Youth Scholarships for
Camps, P.O. Box 14825, Tallahassee,
FL 32317.

CHARLES "CHUCK" ALLEN
TAIT, 80, died peacefully in his
home in Boca Raton, Fla., on Aug.
11, 2014.
Professor Tait was born in Detroit
and met his beloved wife, Sunnie
Feinstein, at Wayne State University.
After he earned his doctorate at
Stanford University in audiol-
ogy he taught at the University of
Wisconsin. He was then recruited by
the University of Michigan to be the
director of the Institute for the Study
of Mental Retardation and Related
Disabilities (ISMRRD) and was a
tenured professor for 17 years before
taking a medical retirement. He was
an accomplished musician, artist
and sailor.
Mr. Tait was predeceased by his
wife, Sunnie.
He is survived by his three chil-
dren, Andrea Tait, Michael Tait
(Elvie), and Elayna Weisel (Steven);
seven grandchildren; two sisters,
Miriam Pergament and Karen Koze.
Interment was at Beth Ahm
Cemetery in Roseville. Contributions
may be made to the Michael J.
Fox Foundation for Parkinson's
