Even so, we can begin to draw some interim conclusions, although there are no guarantees that the worst is over. Looking first at Hamas' gains to date, it can claim to have profoundly shaken Israel's sense of security. A month ago, most Israelis considered it to be a danger- ous terrorist organization, capable of mur- derous attacks. They weren't aware it had several thousand well-trained fighters. They weren't aware of the sophistication of its war machine — its effective hierar- chy, its weaponry, its terror tunnels. Along with Detroit's delegation, there will be 1,000 teens in our neighborhood. That's a lot of energy and a bit of pressure to shine. No problem. "We've been working for over two years on this program, showcasing the Detroit Jewish community, the city, all the tal- ent we have here said Ariella Monson, 2014 JCC Maccabi & ArtsFest director. "We're excited to see kids from all over the world working at their crafts, competing.
