Jessica received her bachelor's degree from Oakland University and master of arts degree in educational technology from the University of Michigan Flint Global Program in Geneva, Switzerland. She teaches middle school language arts at Boulder Country Day School in Boulder, Colo. Lavie graduated from Michigan State University and received his Ph.D. in human factors engineering from Wayne State University. He is a senior human factors engineer at Medtronic in Louisville, Colo. Jessica and Lavie met in 2010 at a ComePlayDetroit kickball game. The couple reside in Broomfield, Colo., and are planning a Labor Day wedding at Congregation B'nai Moshe in West Bloomfield.
