Night of Solidarity Friends of the IDF's annual Guys Night Out supports the soldiers. F riends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) eighth annual Guys Night Out was held June 17 at Tam-0- Shanter Country Club in West Bloomfield. The club was transformed into a guy's haven, with putting competitions, a cigar lounge, open air bars, food galore and a pool party. "For this year, we changed it up a bit by having the event co-chairs and host com- mittee heavily comprised of younger guys with fresh ideas and, for the first time, the event was held primarily outdoors," said Rick Kovacs, event founder. "The turnout of 300 guys reflects amaz- ing support for this vital and most worthy cause of supporting our courageous young soldiers of the IDF who defend and protect Israel on a daily basis. For without a safe and strong Israel as our backbone, we may not have the freedom we enjoy, and per- haps sometimes take for granted, to freely practice Judaism" Aaron Belen, a member of the host com- mittee, said, "I look forward to the event every year. It's a great night for a great cause:' All proceeds benefit the well-being and the education of the soldiers in the IDF. ❑ 26 July 24 • 2014 Left: Guys enjoy scotch and cigars at the "Bob Lederman Memorial Bar."
