T amarack Camps held its seventh annual Family Fun Day on Sunday, June 22. More than 1,200 camp- ers, parents, alumni, family members and friends came to Camp Maas in Ortonville to enjoy their favorite camp activities including swimming, the climbing wall, Teva (nature), arts and crafts, and a new zip line, thanks to the generosity of Natalie and Manny Charach of West Bloomfield. Camp staff members were on hand to greet families and provide tours of camp. "Family Fun Day is a great opportunity for our commu- nity to experience its camp:' said President Michael Lippitt. "Tamarack Camps is truly our Jewish community's home. This year we are particularly excited to showcase many new and updated facilities as we complete the second year of our 10-year master facilities plan:' Families got their first looks at the New Old Amphitheater funded by the William Davidson Foundation, the new Bargman Foundation Medical Shelter, new cabins in DeRoy Village funded by the Rodecker Testimonial Fund and the Berman Village prototype cabin and new lodge. Everyone was excited about the new facilities. The day also included a celebration of the 18th summer of Roberta Blumberg, director of health and safety, at the dedica- tion of the Bargman Foundation Medical Shelter. The shelter, located next to the dining hall, will allow the medical staff to distribute medications to campers and staff in a more efficient and safe manner. The fun-filled day ended with a song session and s'mores at Jeff's Circle, which yet again provided a fitting spring- board to another wonderful summer at Tamarack and a reminder of the strength of the Metropolitan Detroit Jewish community. ❑ The Jewish Women's Renaissance Project is partnering with Aish Detroit to give Detroit mothers the opportunity to reconnect in Israel.
