Obvious Child Movie
Portrays Woman's Choice
I'm glad that the film Obvious Child (June
Keri Guten Cohen

26, page 60) was made because after years
of watching movies that portray abor-
tion as a procedure that causes women
to experience shame and guilt, confusion
and depression, sometimes to the degree
where they get to the point that they don't
have an abortion, there's finally a film that
shows a young woman who has an abor-
tion because she knows it's the best choice
for herself. She feels a sense of relief.
There's much more that could be said
about Obvious Child, but I don't want to
spoil it for anyone. This film will have
a great appeal for young people. This is
extremely important! Some of us will find
the dialogue crass, but this film's premise
and message are significant.
