He was born and
raised in Detroit, the
son of Alice and Moses

Cass Technical High
Grossman
School, where he fine-

continued throughout his life. A grand
piano and his saxophone were fixtures in
his household.
Mr. Grossman was a member of the
U.S. Marine Corps, playing in the Marine
Corps Band. He received his law degree
from the University of Detroit in 1969

Spontaneity and a zest for life were his
trademarks. Throughout the years, it
wasn't unusual for him to show up, unan-
nounced from Los Angeles, at his sister
Joanna Edelson's, with cookies from

Mertz Bakery. He always required a visit
to Lairs, his favorite restaurant.
Mr. Grossman enjoyed taking his
children, Justine and Adam, all over
the world. A perpetual optimist with an
intellectual mind and a sharp wit, he was
always the life of the party.
He is survived by his sister, Joanna
Edelson; his daughter and son-in-law,
Justine and Jon Sherman; son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Adam and Leah Grossman;
grandchildren, Madison, Sienna, Chase
