D

r. Jack Salomon, 68, of West
Bloomfield, died June 8, 2014.
He graduated Wayne State
University Medical School in 1971 and
interned at Lincoln Hospital in the
South Bronx, N.Y. He completed his
residency at Detroit General Hospital
and was the chief medical resident in
his final year of residency.
After residency, Dr. Salomon was an
instructor in the Department of Family
Medicine at Wayne State University.
He then went on to work at the
Metropolitan Health Plan in Dearborn
and eventually at Group Health Plan in
Warren.
In 1989, he joined the Henry Ford
Medical Group, leaving in 2000 to do
freelance work as a temporary physi-
cian in a bariatric clinic in Michigan, at
Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and at
the Veteran's Administration clinic in
Youngstown, Ohio. While there, he was
offered a full-time position with the

V.A. Clinic as the clinical manager in
2001 until 2007.
Dr. Salomon returned to Michigan
to do freelance work at Intercare in
Western Michigan that cared for a large
migrant worker population. He went on
to work at Blue Care Network in East
Lansing, caring for a varied population
of college students, professors, laborers
and retirees. He also spent time work-
ing at San Carlos Hospital in Arizona,
on the Apache Indian Reservation,
addressing challenging medical issues
of the Native American population.
His final professional position was
with Total Health Systems in Clinton
Township, addressing patient primary
care concerns and assessment for physi-
cal therapy needs.
Dr. Salomon loved the practice of
medicine and enjoyed the opportuni-
ties that were presented in his career,
to teach medical students, P.A. students
and medical residents in his various

professional positions. He was an avid
believer in continuing education and
believed that you could never know
enough in your profession and the prac-
tice of medicine.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey
Salomon; sons and daughter-in-law,
Mark Salomon, and Garret and Erica
Salomon; daughter and son-in-law,
Jessica and Michael Schonberger;
grandson, Ari David Salomon; sister
and brother-in-law, Elayne and Don
Ritten; brother and sister-in-law, Dr.
Allan and Leslie Salomon; sisters-in-law
and brother-in-law, Lenore Salomon,
and Bob and Becky Scharf; many loving
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was the cherished father of the
late Jeremy Salomon; and the loving
brother of the late Harry Salomon, the
late Sarah Feuereisen, the late Judy
Salomon and the late Pinky Salomon.
Interment was at Beth El Memorial
