Chef's Cuisine, the very fine,
true mom-and-pop restaurant
that Michael and Kathy Hall
opened in 2000 and closed for
economic reasons.
He was the chef and she its
manager and dining room host-
ess, at the door greeting and
seating customers.
Seating at Chef's Cuisine on Highland
Road in White Lake was for only 50 peo-
ple, but Michael's classic style of cooking
of which he took such great pride in hav-
ing presented to customers has not been
forgotten.
Folks loved his walleye in a crisp herb and
pine nut crust, or the walleye sauteed with
fricassee of Maine lobster, and the perch
sauteed in butter with pine nuts and lemon
... His corn-fed beef sirloin steak Diane and
oven-roasted duck were wonderful.
There have not been too many such
true mom-and-pop restaurants that could
compare with it ... So much pride that
usually goes with these authentic dining
operations.
Hopes are numerous that Chef's Cuisine
will one day emerge again.
READER MINI REVIEW ... From
Dennis Silber ... "For almost 44 years,
Debbie and I have held fond remembranc-
es of Christine Lee's Chinese restaurant
when it was located in the Thunderbird
Motel in Miami Beach. We were recently
re-introduced to this great restaurant.
"Christine Lee's has had a legion of fol-
lowers, many from Detroit, since 1970,
and now is in its present home at the
Gulfstream Race Course and Casino in
Hallandale [on S. Federal Hwy.].
"Once seated in the warm atmosphere,

Appetizers circulated around the table
from barbecued ribs to bowls of crispy
noodles, and then the impressive dishes
were shared and passed around.
"Lobster Cantonese served out of the
shell in a black bean sauce with ginger and
scallions; a steamed bamboo basket chock-
full of steamed vegetables and chicken
breast; egg foo young; crispy shrimp, spicy
on a bed of rice noodles; and the delicious,
among South Florida's best, ever-popular
Christine Lee's prime sirloin and filet
steaks.
"Even one of the desserts was extremely
delicious and interesting. A pineapple sor-
bet frozen into the body of half of a pine-
apple and delectable pistachio ice cream"

OLDIE BUT GOODIE DEPT. ... Four
young novice nuns were about to take
their vows. Dressed in their white gowns,
they came into the chapel with the cer-
emony to marry them to Jesus, making
them "brides of Christ"
Just as the ceremony was about to begin,
four Hasidic Jews with yarmulkes, long
sideburns and long beards came in and sat
in the front row.
The mother superior said to them, "I am
honored that you would want to share this
experience with us, but do you mind if I
ask why you came?"
"We're from the groom's side"
