A. Alfred Taubman and Michael
Steinhardt. Among the honorary
board members are every liv-
ing past president of the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit. Applebaum's daughter,
Pamela, is a member of the foun-
dation's 15-member operating
board.
The Foundation website was
constructed by Media Genesis of
Troy and the archival consultant
is Mike Smith, a historian and
archivist at Wayne State's Walter
Reuther library who has 25 years
of experience in archives and pub-
lic history.
Under Smith's initiative,
the Foundation has recently
assembled a technical advisory
board. The members are Sharon
Alterman, who directed the
archives of the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit; Lauren
Ann Davies, a designer and writ-
er; Troy Eller English, the Society
of Women Engineers archivist at
the Reuther Library; Bill McGraw,
who co-founded Deadline Detroit
and created the Detroit Almanac;
Adam Mosseri, a library and
information science graduate stu-
dent at Wayne State University;
Dallas Pillen, a graduate student
at WSU's School of Library and
Information Science; and Lynne
Standley, who has been active in
applying technology to teaching
and learning for 40 years in a
variety of educational and com-
munity settings.
This group will assure that the
Foundation and the archives will
be kept up to date on trends in
digital technology. This collec-
tion of bright minds will be able
to forecast changes in the field
and see that the archives are pre-
pared for them. They will provide
ongoing growth in regard to the
developing technology and tools
to provide the latest aid to those
who avail themselves of this his-
torical treasure.
The Foundation website is
managed by SIX 15 Solutions, a
local IT firm. "Working with the
Detroit Jewish News Foundation
has been a pleasure," said CEO
Jeff Mackey. "It's exciting to help
make the history of Detroit's
Jewish community easily available
for anyone to access and refer-
ence."
