GERTRUDE OSTEN, 85, of Boyton Beach, Fla., and Bloomfield Hills, died May 31, 2014. She is survived Osten by her sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Susan Osten of Bloomfield Hills, and Eric Osten, also of Bloomfield Hills; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Doug Fortier of Rochester Hills; grandchildren, Shanon Rohlman, Nicole and Alan Raines, Peter and Kelly Osten, Alexandra Osten, Brad and Laura Fortier, Lindsay and Joe Scurti; great-grandchildren, Max Raines, Ari Raines, Cooper Osten, Elizabeth Osten and Aubrey Fortier; brother-in-law, David Schwartz. Mrs. Osten was the beloved wife of the late Werner Osten; the lov- ing grandmother of the late Jeffrey Brian Fortier; and the dear sister of the late Harriet Schwartz. Interment was at Oakview Cemetery. HOWARD BARRY PACKMAN, 79, former Detroiter of the Village of Oak Creek, Sedona, Ariz., died May 24, 2014. He was born Jan. 11, 1935, and educated in Detroit, before serving in the Navy from 1953-1957. He was a top sales representative for AAA Michigan for 39 years. He was also an avid sailboat racer in the Great Lakes and a clarinetist with several community symphonies. Mr. Packman is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ilaine Lorber Packman; sons, Daniel Vance (Sandra), Kevin Scott (Sarah), James Jordan (Andrew Cohen); grandchildren, Jonah, Sophie and Micah; brother, Allan. A memorial service was held at the Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley.
