The Met: Live in HD begins its
Summer Encore Series with a screening
of Rigoletto (originally transmitted live on
February 16, 2013) at 7 p.m. Wednesday,

Michael Mayer's acclaimed production,
the talk of the opera world when it pre-
miered in 2013, sets the action of Verdi's
masterpiece in 1960s Las Vegas — a neon-
lit world ruled by money and ruthless,
powerful men. Mayer is best known for
his Broadway credits, including this year's
Tony-nominated Hedwig and the Angry

The DSO kicks off the summer season
with a scenic lakeside concert on Saturday,

Celebration, a program of classics by

U.S.A., followed by a fireworks display.
