1970 when Maurice accepted a posi-
tion as director of the Ingham County

He received a teaching certificate and
holds a medical degree and a master of
science in public health, has been listed
in Who's Who In America and has been

Unfortunately, Leanor, who continues
to do voiceover work, suffers from the
effects of Alzheimer's.
"My dad is taking care of my mom as
her Alzheimer's progresses," Nancy said.
"My younger brother Bruce has been
invaluable in helping both my parents.
My older brother Mark has done a lot of

70 Years Strong
Leanor, 91, and Maurice, 95, were mar-
ried on June 13, 1943, in New York.
They met in college as members of
University of Michigan's Choral Union.
"There was this loud-mouth tenor
who was always making smart remarks
and jokes," Leanor said. "But I got even.
I married him!"
The Reizen's children are Mark
and Jen Reizen of Howell; Nancy and
Howard Serlin of Farmington Hills;
and Bruce Reizen of East Lansing.
Grandchildren are Jason Reizen
of Los Angeles, Jennifer Matley of
Howell, Daniel and Miry Serlin of
Farmington Hills, and David and Dana
Serlin of Ann Arbor. They have seven
great-grandchildren.
Maurice looks at marriage as having
"highs and lows."
"To make a marriage last many years
one has to be able to adjust and adapt
to challenges, from within and without,"
he said.
For Leanor, "Love was the glue that
kept us together. The course was not
always smooth, but we stuck to it. And
we are still stuck together," she said.
Maurice says, "Leanor and I are
fortunate in that we both have a highly
developed sense of humor:'
And, after seven decades, the Reizens
are still having fun.
Maurice maintains simply, "Fun can
range from doing the dishes together —
I wash, Leanor dries — to attending our
70th wedding celebration:'
